About Autism
Autism is a complex developmental disability that affects an individual in the areas of social interaction and communication. Autism is a spectrum disorder that affects each individual differently and to varying degrees of severity. Today about 1.5 million Americans, both children and adults, are on the autism spectrum.
The Greater Capital Region Chapter of the Autism Society of America serves twelve counties within the greater Capital Region. Our mission is to promote lifelong access and opportunities for people on the autism spectrum and their families so they can be fully participating, included members of their communities. We do this through advocacy, public awareness, education, compassionate support and research related to autism. We are doing our best to help them, but our resources are limited and we really need your support! Funds raised from events like these will provide support and services to local families.
